ABOUT
Pattern maker and draper with over 20 years of experience in Tokyo and Los Angeles, specializing in development, draping, and complex garment construction. Experienced in creating patterns from first concept through production, including fittings, corrections, grading, marker making, and CAD patternmaking.
BACKGROUND
Takako began her career as a pattern maker in Tokyo after graduating from Bunka Fashion College in 2004. Working for a licensed French brand, Courrèges, she developed a strong foundation in pattern making, draping, grading, marker making, and CAD, with a focus on structured jackets and dresses.
After moving to Los Angeles, Takako joined Clover Canyon, where she worked as Head Pattern Maker from 2011 to 2014. She created patterns by hand and worked closely with the design and production teams, developing styles from first patterns through production.
In 2015, Takako established her independent pattern-making service and has since worked with more than 20 Los Angeles–based designers and brands. Specializing in draping and development, she has extensive experience translating designers’ concepts into three-dimensional form and developing patterns through fittings, corrections, and production. Her work ranges from structured tailoring and complex silhouettes to evening-wear and bridal.
